Post 8: English Language Challenges

Image
Well, my experience learning English at university in part it was good because I have learned some things like, vocabulary, grammatical, writing, etc. But in the other part it is bad for the pandemic and therefore the online classes that comes back a not very interactive methodology of study, which it is very important to learn English. About the use of blogs, I like it because it serves to practice the writing and very interesting to know the opinions of my classmates about different things. However, it had one thing I didn't like about the blogs and that it is the contents, because the most themes of the post were concerning of the future and the things I would like to do in the future; I'd prefer to write about a series, books or movies I like. Respect the aspects of my English I think I need to improve my pronunciation and speaking skills, that is because it is difficult for me the speaking and talking in English with other persons. So, for that I need to practice these par

Post 7: Changes to My Study Program

Image
Well, the changes I would like to do in the study program of my career, specifically in the curriculum —at least in the two first years— would be adding more subjects related with the physical anthropology mention. Because we have had so few subjects about that mention, so personally I don't know much about their field of study and work. Concerning the workload, I think it is a thing that need to be talked in each semester, because the situations and necessities changes every semester. So, I  would propose the idea that we (teachers and students) should talk every semester and find solutions together. But, they should commit to listening to the needs of the students and fulfilling the agreements. In the case of the length of studies, I think it is ok. About the faculty facilities I talk since ignorance, because I have never been in the faculty :( But I have listened from other students they have gone to the faculty, what in some classrooms when it rains the water passes. Also, I li

Post 6: Postgraduate Studies

Image
The postgraduate course that I would like to take in the future, would be something with psychology. That is because I have always been interested about psychology, and also it is a discipline that can work together with my anthropological studies. Even if I can't take advantage of a psychology course with the anthropology, I would do it out of curiosity and to gain new knowledge in a different area of study. This postgraduate course I would like to do abroad, like an excuse to escape from Chile (I'm kidding hahaha). Actually, I would like to study outside of Chile; because I want to meet new people of different parts of the world. And also, to practice or learn a new language.  About the modality of study I really would not like to be online, with the experience gained during this time is enough for me and I have plenty. So, I prefer to study with a presence-based modality. If during the time when I take the course I find myself working, maybe I would like a part-time course;

Post 5: My Future Job

Image
When I have to talk about my future job I prefer not to do it haha. And it's because it bothers me, it is just that I am not ready to think about such a distant future if I haven't graduated yet. Anyways, if I need to say something; I really want an outdoor job, and that requires a lot of travel. Not for nothing I chose to study anthropology, since as I understand it is a career that meets these working conditions.  The real problem here is... I don't know what major to choose, in terms of job the three options they're good: Anthropology with social mention, Anthropology with physics mention and Archaeology. For example: If I choose social, perhaps I can take once with the neighbors of the town where am I working. Or If I choose physic maybe I will be in a laboratory analyzing bones. And if I choose archaeology I may be Indiana Jones (I'm kidding), but I may be digging up materialities or bones. Well, the possibilities are thousands, and I just have one life hahaha.

Post 4: What's like to study Anthropology?

Image
I am studying anthropology, and for the moment I really like the career. How I choose this career was a long story.  In my last year of high school I passed for an existential crisis, I didn't know what do with my life. With the help of the school psychologist, we tried to find a career that it would make me happy. The options that I had was many; like biochemistry, psychologist, literature, etc. But none convinced me, until I found the anthropology in a career fair. It was a love at first sight. That's because anthropology has all I wanted in a career, a quite varies field of study. In the university the anthropology career is dividing into three mentions: Anthropology with physical mention, Anthropology with social mention and Anthropology with archaeology mention. Having different options to choose and learn during the basic circle, and also to again have an existential crisis haha.   Study anthropology online is very difficult and sad, that's because has the complex of

Post 3: Let's talk about the pandemic

Image
The apparition of the coronavirus, changed our lives in 180 grades. The pandemic made that all need to use masks to don't scatter the virus. Also, we saw obligated to maintain social distancing. And live in quarantine to reduce the contagious, when figures of contagion are serious. The quarantine brought many problems to the people. Like the loss of their  source of work, because of various enterprises dismissed many of theirs workers to mitigate the crisis. Or they couldn't keep working because their jobs aren't first necessity (like SME) Another problem was the implementation of online class. Doing the learning difficult  for students who don't have stable internet or students who don't have a  device or study place adequate to online classes . For the latter point and the confinement, the people was affected in their mental health. Increasing in the population the anxiety, stress and more mental disorders. And maybe the most important problem was the fact that we

Post 2: The best holidays ever

Image
The best holidays that I have were in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In November 2019 my grandma and her partner invited me on a little trip to Buenos Aires. They told me it was a gift for my high school graduation. I was so excited about the trip, because I had never left Chile in my life.  In Buenos Aires we did various activities. Of course, one of the main activities was seeing the obelisk illuminated in the middle of the night. That was wonderful. Also, we went to the San Telmo fair, we walked through Puerto Madero (which was beautiful), we traveled on the subway, we met the Casa Rosada and went to dinner at a tanguería.  Going to the tanguería was the best by far (besides the croissants with dulce de leche for breakfast). That is because the tanguería they treated us very well, and also because I really like tango (it is so beautiful). But what made the difference was seeing my grandmother and her partner dancing tango there, they looked fantastic, they danced better than the Argentine
